Gwen Mikinski is one of the greatest athletes to ever come out of Flint and Genesee County and her career has been a continuous series of innovations, improvements, and success on her way to reaching the highest levels of sports achievement.
She is a former World Record Holder in the pentathlon high jump, and the American Record Holder in the Heptathlon High Jump, and two time National Champion in the high jump. A graduate of Grand Blanc she knew early on that she wanted to be an athlete, she just wasn’t sure what sport it would be. When she found track and field, it was game on!
After her competitive career ended she shifted in to coaching and was named one of the youngest female coaches ever for the United States Olympic Track and Field Team for the London games. Since then she has crafted her own entrepreneurial brand and speaks and presents around the world, and has the #1 best selling book of all time on high jumping.
These days, Gwen is one of the leading voices in the sports and education industry as a world class athlete, coach and teacher. Today she is high jumping in to The Aquarium with Fish to tell the awesome story of her rise to stardom!

Gwen competing in the 2013 Masters Track and Field Championship held in Olathe, Kansas where she competed in the women’s 40-44 high jump by clearing 1.77m, setting a new American record.
