Jim and Mallorie Rasberry of HGTV's hit "Hometown" 12/12/18
Hometown Lessons
This show originally aired on 12-18-18 but technical difficulties prevented posting. We've fixed those issues and are proud to present the show in all it's glory right here now! Community revitalization is the focus of this outstanding show. To kick things off, we take a minute to get a little perspective on things, and wish Billy Durant a happy birthday, exploring the background on what he built, how he did it and what needs to happen to move forward. The first segment explores his legacy a bit and you might be amazed to hear a little bit about his story. Segment one is all about "The Wizard of Flint", William C. "Billy" Durant. We also talk about all of the things happening in downtown Flint, right now. Durant was one of the greatest innovators of all time. He knew how to build, and even more critical, how to REBUILD when required. He was a master at this. The rest of the show looks at what it takes to innovate and build a community. Indeed, the idea of rebuilding a community is hardly unique to Flint, or Michigan. The best way to do it is often learned by bringing in the best ideas from everywhere. Seemingly far removed from Flint is the little southern enclave of Laurel, Missisippi, but there is much they can teach the nation about community spirit, pride, innovation, support, and rebirth. Two key players in this story are my good friends, Jim and Mallorie Rasberry. In fact, they do such a good job with it that they've become stars and cast members of the HGTV show "Hometown". It's watched by more than four million viewers every single week! I invited them to join us to talk about what they've done, how they've done it, what we can learn and why so many people find the story of Laurel's revitalization so incredibly compelling. If you want to skip right to my interview with Jim and Mallorie they come on at the 21:00 mark. It's OUTSTANDING! Jim and Mallorie appear at the 21:00 minute mark.
